THE HERO – 2001 ( For Antonio)

The work “The Hero” presents an iconographic image of the artist riding a white horse in the countryside while carrying a large white flag. Neither she nor the horse move and a voice-over is heard singing and humming a popular Yugoslavian song dedicated to the conquered hero. The important presence of horses in Montenmedio and the charisma of its proprietor, Antonio Blázquez, reminded her of a paternal figure, a Yugoslavian national hero, who rode a white horse during the war.
