PILAR ALBARRACÍN
Seville, 1968. Lives and works in Madrid.
Studied Fine Arts at the University of Seville and the influence of her Andalusian roots can be perceived in all her work.
Multi-disciplinary artist who works in the fields of performance, video, photography, sculpture and installations. Her field of investigation is focused on issues of traditional Spain: flamenco, bullfighting, beliefs, music, folklore and craftwork, which she transforms in her works through irony, humour, criticism, sensuality and poetry. In 1999 she presented the performance “Tortilla a la Española” (Spanish Omelette) in which she violently scratches her clothing and then proceeds to make a Spanish omelette with it.
